body and soul
The Design
The body in copper, an ancient material, the man’s companion in his evolution, from the early tools until modern technologies. The steel core, a strong soul, the soul of our work. Every day these materials pass between our hands, since 30 years, raw, to be machined, to become something else and transform in tools and moulds, that bring to life new objects, new shapes and enter indirectly in our daily life. That is how MONILI collection was invented, steel and copper, body and soul, to whom give back identity through an essential design, in purity for what they are, noble material, malleable, to wear.
Steel
It represents the “core”, the center and the contour of our MONILI. Realized with high-tech steel, stainless, highly polishable, stable on finished realized surfaces. It grants brightness or create contrast, in the black version,
with shades and reflections of Copper. Used in common language to represent strength, resistance, stability, toughness, arms Mars portrayed in classic iconography with helmet, spear or sword. It is the “cold” element of our composition, to exalt the heat of the material, and the body, which surrounds it.
Tradition
Tuscany : land of artisans, art, jewelery, fashion. Here also the industry’s craft, and it’s not a contradiction, it is a treasure, a way of working, to merge skills, manual skills and creativity. We have gathered our knowledge in machining metals, in finishing and in surface treatments.
Modern numerical control machines used to realize, with high tech materials usually used in industrial components, harmonious shapes to wear, I MONILI. Objects so distant in the usage united by the same wise “hands”, from the same old shop, that smells of history, of our history, of our Tuscany, of Florence and it’s tradition.
Copper
Cuprum, from Cyprum, from the foam of the water which bring to life Venus, goddess of love. The biological symbol of women, Venus’s mirror ♀, was used by alchemist as the symbol of Copper. Non-toxic, 100% recyclable and bacteriostatic. It is the material of thermal conductivity, electrical transmission and, in the contemporary era, of communication and relation. It is the body of our MONILI, realized with an high-tech alloy, It retains its chromatic characteristics, combined with high hardness, which allows high-polishing and special surface finishes.Wrapped in his black cloak, it changes in mysterious and intriguing.
